Barriers that might hold nursing practice from achieving 90% of practice be evidence-based by 2020 include priority and education towards the practice itself. A research done by a group in Columbus, Ohio surveyed 276 chief nurse executives to see how evidence based practice rank in their institutions. The studies states that even though it is known that evidence based practice has resulted in high quality care and improve population health as well as showing better patient experience and lowering costs it is not a priority in most institutions.
